Excellent for B&B, Extended Family Home, Vacation Home, Business or anything you desire!Beautiful Italianate Mansion built by James S. Thomson who is a descendant of Pocahontas! This 29 room house has 10,000 square feet of floor space and more than 100 windows. James came to Glasgow, Mo in 1843 and was elected President of the first City Council of Glasgow in 1845. His initials are etched into the window over the massive front doors of this stately home. When the house was built in 1875, it incorporated many modern conveniences such as running water with an attic-mounted cistern to collect rain water for the inside plumbing. It also had trap doors installed in the baseboards were the servants could sweep into chutes that where inside the walls that fell into the basement into the furnace. I have never seen this clever feature in any other home. The front part of the house was designed for the family while the servant's quarters were at the rear with separate entrance. The main front hall opens into two formal parlors, a sitting room, and a dining room with large built in walnut china cabinet. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and a Rose Room, named for the beautiful tinted red glass partitions that separates it from the hall. Seven of these rooms have fireplaces. T
